Hey Vilas families! We have a unique opportunity to participate in the Summer Food Service Program in partnership with the Colorado Food Cluster. The Colorado Food Cluster (CFC) is partnering with the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) to deliver FREE meals to students who qualify. Students enrolled in the program will receive a weekly delivery of 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches, and milk delivered directly to their doorstep. If you would like to enroll your student and determine if you qualify to receive a free weekly delivery of meals over the summer, please visit CFC’s online registration site here: https://app.coloradofoodcluster.com CFC is hoping to begin delivering on June 19th. If you have any questions, please contact Colorado Food Cluster at https://app.coloradofoodcluster.com, and they will be happy to provide more information.

We are excited to partner with an optometrist who has a mobile lab for eye exams! They could visit our community next week if we have enough interest. The optometrist can provide you with prescription glasses and contacts and dilate your eyes - making it a comprehensive experience! Individuals on Medicaid can get their eye exam and two pairs of glasses absolutely free of charge. For everyone else, the eye exam is available at an affordable price of only $80. If you are interested or have questions, please message us or call the school at 719-523-6738. The optometrist recognizes getting appointments is challenging for our area, so hopefully, this will be helpful to our students, families, and community.

Reminder that tomorrow is our awards ceremony and the last day of school. We will be releasing at 1:00PM. Lunch will be served and buses will run.

They did it! 🙌 The South Baca boys powered through and set a new personal record in the 4x800m relay at state track this weekend - an impressive feat that earned them a 5th-place finish! The relay team is made up of Hayden Brooks, Ethan Barwick, LJ Willis, Mylo Lovejoy, and alternate - Osman Yanes. And that's not all; Mylo Lovejoy placed 5th in the 800m, too. Congratulations to the South Baca boys for an outstanding performance and for representing #SouthBaca at the highest level! Additionally, we missed mentioning yesterday that Mylo Lovejoy and Hayden Brooks each set new personal records in the 3200m.

Congratulations to Mylo Lovejoy and Hayden Brooks for slaying the competition at State Track! Mylo placed 2nd, and Hayden placed 9th in the 1600m. #GoTeamGo You both put in a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication to reach this amazing achievement! We’re all so proud of you and can’t wait to see what heights you reach next.

We would like to express our deepest and sincerest appreciation to the incredible staff at Vilas School. Their dedication, enthusiasm, and hard work are truly commendable, as they strive each day to provide our students with quality education and support. We are so thankful to have such an amazing team of teachers and staff members who go above and beyond to ensure our children succeed.

We are so grateful to the Campo School for welcoming us into their home and providing students from the Vilas School with a unique learning opportunity. We are having an amazing week! Some students are immersing themselves in the world of performing arts, while others are participating in various hands-on projects and problem-solving activities. It has been a bonding experience that truly embraces the spirit of community. Don't forget to join us at the Campo School Gym this Friday, May 12th, 2023, at 6:00 pm for the play they have been rehearsing this week! A community potluck dinner will follow.
