Dear Families,
I hope you are staying warm and safe during this winter wonderland. As your students may have shared, we’ve experienced some disruptions recently due to ongoing HVAC issues. We are saddened that our brand-new HVAC system is not maintaining consistent temperatures throughout the school building.
As soon as the issue began, we immediately started working with our contractor and service company to resolve it. While improvements have been made, the extremely low temperatures have posed additional challenges for the system to keep up. We are committed to ensuring all classrooms maintain an adequate learning temperature of 65 degrees or higher.
To accommodate this, some classes may temporarily be held in alternative locations such as the Innovation Center, cafeteria, or gym concessions room. As always, please ensure your students come to school dressed in weather-appropriate clothing, as they walk outside between buildings daily.

Superintendent Pettinger and Business Manager Linda Warhoe recently attended CASE Capital Day. During the event, they gained valuable insights into current educational topics being discussed in the legislative session and learned about the upcoming state budget focuses. Advocating for education and staying informed are key to supporting our students and school! 🏛️📚
Our elementary students had an incredible opportunity to connect with students in the Philippines using amazing technology! They learned about what school is like there and shared their own educational experiences here. This cultural exchange was a wonderful learning experience. 🌏✨
Vilas School District is on a 2 hour delay for Tuesday, January 21st, due to the weather. School will start at 10am. Busses will run. No breakfast will be served.

Recently the elementary students had an exciting day visiting the Springfield movie theater, followed by a tour of Southeast Colorado Hospital. They had the opportunity to explore different careers and learn about the important work done in healthcare. What a fun and educational experience!
Team Vilas Matrix headed to Littleton this weekend for a First Tech Challenge qualifier meet. They gained valuable experience, made impressive modifications to their robot, and are excitedly preparing for the next meet. Great job, team!
